Mexico City. President Felipe Calderón inaugurated the Teotihuacan, City of the Gods Exhibition at the National Museum of Anthropology and History and invited Mexicans to rediscover their country because, he said, Mexico is not only sun and beach, but also roots, culture, natural richness and tradition.

Accompanied by his wife Margarita Zavala, as well as Public Education Secretary, Alonso Lujambio Irazábal, and President of the National Council of Culture and the Arts, Consuelo Sáizar Guerrero, the President said that the Vive México movement, implemented a few days ago, is designed to boost pride in the country, what we have been, what we are and what we will become.

“Let Mexicans appreciate the greatness of their culture and celebrate the fact that Mexico is more alive than ever before. Through this exhibition, we will revive the culture that gave us our origins, delve into the mysteries of the past and offer Mexico the beauty and symbols of the City of Gods," he said.

He said that in 2009, and despite the ups and downs of the international economic environment, Federal Government will invest 163 million pesos in the infrastructure of museums and archaeological sites, "because we need them to have better facilities to receive visitors.”

He added that an ambitious program is underway to create temporary jobs at archaeological sites, where some people require labor and others require a helping hand or opportunity to be able to work.

He explained that the investment includes 12 million pesos for the National Museum of Anthropology and History, which houses the Teotihuacán, City of the Gods Exhibition, in order to modernize it with technological developments.
