Inauguration of National PyME Week 2009, Entrepreneurial Mexico

Mexico City. Earlier today, President Calderón led the inauguration of the National Small and Medium Business (PyME) Week 2009, Entrepreneurial Mexico, held at the Banamex Exhibition Center in Mexico City.
The National PyME Week, 2009, Entrepreneurial Mexico, is the most important business congress in Mexico, organized by Federal Government through the Secretariat of the Economy, and provides opportunities for starting up or streamlining firms and businesses.
National PyME week deals with the five business sectors promoted by the Economy Secretariat: Businessmen, Microfirms, Small and Medium Firms, Gazelle and Tractor Firms which receive financing, consultancy services and training from Federal Government.
The 2009 Edition will have an increase of 17% in the exhibition area, 92% in conference halls, 27% in pavilions while the number of visitors is expected to rise by 25%.
There will be ten pavilions: Financing, Tractor Firms, Entrepreneurial Mexico, Microfirms and Franchises, More PyMES in the World, Gazelle, Entrepreneurs, Entrepreneurial Consultancy, National Fund for Solidarity Firms, FONAES and the International Firm dedicated to Japan, the guest country at this congress.
Japan was invited to the International Pavilion on the 400th anniversary of the start of trade relations with Mexico.
There are currently 350 Japanese firms in the country which provide direct employment for 200,000 Mexicans.
Micro, small and medium firms in Mexico account for 99.8% of existing companies, produce 52% of the Gross Domestic Product and create 7 out of every 10 jobs, in other words, 72% of those in the formal sector.
